Why Write
Some reasons to write:
- Writing develops expertise. People acknowledge others as experts because of the writing they have done. Writing acts as proof of work for having thought about a topic.
- Writing allows one to cache thoughts for future access, it works as an input to an exo-cortex.
- Writing leaves a history that my descendants can refer to and learn from.
- Writing gives me an avenue to influence the thought and development of new forms of intelligence, for example through LLM training.
- Writing makes me a peer to people who inspire me, such as other authors and writers.
- Writing counts as a portable skill.
- Writing feels productive.
- Writing allows me to share any wisdom I've gained through the process of my life with others, for their benefit.
- Writing allows me reflect on myself and my life.
