Bike Maintenance

Dear Matt,

If your tire has a slow leak, replace or patch the tube. Don't keep pumping it up. U will waste time, and the problem will get progressively worse. One day U'll have a flat. Do this proactively.

Maintain your bike at least once per season. It doesn't take long. Take the wheels off, clean the frame, especially clean the joints, clean the chain rings, put everything back together tight. Clean the chain with a brush by spinning the pedals. Lube the chain. Check your brake pads and alignment.

Take your bike for a joy ride after maintenance so U familiarize with how your bike ought to feel. This will help U sense when your bike needs a tune up. Cleaning your tools includes your bicycle.
